Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a method of providing a peel to the epidermis. It uses a
unique system composed of a compressor and a suction pump that work in unison to
project sterile Aluminum Oxide crystals onto the skin with controllable
intensity. The unit simultaneously vacuums the area and removes the exfoliated
skin cells leaving the skin instantly smoother and with an even skin texture.
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive solution that revitalizes your skin’s
appearance, promotes production of new cells in the deepest skin layers,
cleanses pores, and stimulates collagen networking, all resulting in improved
skin texture and appearance.
Benefits
Virtually no side effects
Gives the skin an overall fresh, even tone and healthy-looking glow
Non surgical, safe, effective “lunch hour” procedure
Effective on all skin colors and types
Excellent for skin sensitive to chemical procedures
Normal activities can be resumed immediately
What does Microdermabrasion Treat?
Microdermabrasion treats many signs of prematurely aging skin including fine
lines, “crow’s feet,” wrinkles, scars, age spots, sun damage, hyper
pigmentation, enlarged pores and acne scars. Microdermabrasion gets rid of dull,
lackluster skin giving you a more youthful appearance.
What are Microdermabrasion Treatments like?
Microdermabrasion treatments last less than an hour. An Esthetician will cleanse
your face, then use the Microdermabrasion machine to gently exfoliate your skin.
Pressure is adjusted for your skin’s need. The Microdermabrasion machine’s hand
piece is moved across the treatment area delivering a precise stream of crystals
onto the skin’s surface; the sloughed off skin cells and the left over crystals
are then suctioned off to reveal a fresh, vibrant skin surface. After your
treatment, the Esthetician may choose to apply an enzyme or facial mask to
optimize your results.
What to Expect from a Microdermabrasion Treatment
After the first treatment the skin will have a fresh, radiant glow. Fine lines,
wrinkles, and age spots become greatly diminished, and many clients report that
their skin seems to be softer, smoother and younger looking.
When the skin surface is disrupted a cell division takes place. This division
stimulates fibroblast activity, one of the rejuvenating mechanisms in the skin
that slows with age, resulting in the loss of skin elasticity. Fibroblast
activity also creates the protein fibers, which are the building blocks of
collagen. Repeated Microdermabrasion treatments maximize this process because of
their unique ability to deliver outstanding reproducible results both above and
below the surface.
Improvement continues throughout the treatment program, and you’ll begin to
notice visible results after the third treatment. A series of 6 weekly
treatments are recommended for optimal results.
After the initial series of Microdermabrasion treatments have been completed,
scheduling should be every two to three months. Think seasonal as a good
guideline. Avoid treatments during high summer months when the sun is brightest.
Intersperse Microdermabrasion treatments with basic rejuvenating facials and
remember to use sun block every day.
Who should not receive Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is not recommended for sensitive skin, active rosacea, active
weeping acne, recent herpes outbreak, warts, unstable diabetes or those with a
predisposition to pigmentation problems.
